Four policemen killed in Quetta firing

Gunmen killed four policemen in a drive-by shooting on the outskirts of Quetta Saturday, police said.

The shooting comes two days after 15 people were killed by a bomb explosion outside the gates of the Sunni Muslim seminary in the city.
"Unidentified gunmen shot dead four policemen, who were on a routine patrol in the Saryab road area," local police official Abdul Rahim told AFP. "We picked up the bodies from the site and shifted them to hospital."
The number of attackers was not known, he said. Another local senior police official, Muhammad Sikandar Tareen, confirmed the incident and casualties. There was no claim of responsibility for the latest incident. It should be mentioned that Sariyab Road area is considered to be sensitive and dangerous locality and dozens of people including security personnel and common people have been gunned down in the locality during recent months. Locals said they fail to understand as to why the police and other law enforcement agencies have taken appropriate security measures to prevent such attacks or at least arrest the outlaws when they flee after committing murders. The citizens of Quetta have demanded the district administration, provincial and federal governments for finding permanent solution to daily killings and give security to them.
