PPP will win next elections, says Raja

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has said that he was optimistic that PPP would not only be able to form a government in Punjab but also win the next general elections and return to power.
He was talking to members of the Punjab Assembly belonging to PPP at the PM’s House on Monday evening.
The Prime Minister urged the members of Punjab Assembly that they should not be swayed by the propaganda launched by the Opposition.
He paid tributes to the PPP members in the Punjab Assembly for upholding the flag of the party in the face of hostile environment.
PPP led coalition government under the inspiring leadership of the President Asif Ali Zardari and guided by vision of Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, pursued a policy of reconciliation, tolerance and patience, he added. In the last four and half years it had a lot of achievement to its credit, he said.
The Prime Minister said that PPP took over the government when the country was facing many challenges.
The Opposition left the government, thinking that PPP govt would not be able to last long, he said.
President Asif Ali Zardari took the challenge and resolved to save the system and put the country back on track, he added.
Raja Pervaiz said that PPP had only won 124 seats in 2008 elections when it needed 172 to form the government.
“It was only due to the policies of President Asif Ali Zardari that we were not only able to form a government but were also successfully completing our tenure”.
He paid tributes to the steadfastness of the PPP members in the Punjab Assembly who in the face of all odds had demonstrated their commitment with the party and played their role.
“We can never forget our party workers who have rendered sacrifices and stood by the party in difficult times”, he stated.
The MPAs of Punjab Assembly who met the Prime Minister were led by Imtiaz Safdar Warraich MNA President PPP Punjab.
Faryal Talpur, MNA and Federal Ministers Qamar Zaman Kaira, Maula Bukhsh Chandio and Nazar Muhammad Gondal were also present during the meeting.
