ISLAMABAD – Although the sudden quit of some of allied parties from the provincial government on shaping a new local government system jolted Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), yet the PML-Q’s backtracked stance proved a bit sigh of relief for the ruling party; however remaining partners are still sticking to their stance.
The PPP, after a deal with its main allied partner MQM, faced a sudden reaction from other ruling coalition members as Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Awami National Party (ANP), PML-F and NPP terming it a serious conspiracy against the Sindh opted to quit provincial government.
Later the major allied partner, PML-Q, clarified that they have not decided to part ways with the government and also termed the resignation of one party member as an individual act. “The resignation of one member was given on misconception,” said PML-Q Spokesman Kamil Ali Agha talking to TheNation.
He said that there was no chance for quitting the federal government on this issue as PML-Q has not even quitted provincial government.
When contacted, Awami National Party (ANP) Spokesman, Zahid Khan said his party had registered its protest and they were only limited to part ways with Sindh government.
“We have quitted from Sindh government and there is no plan to quit the federal government,” he said, adding that ANP had not been contacted by PPP on this issue as yet.  He also expressed party’s reservation over not properly taking them into confidence on this issue. It is relevant to mention here that major development in shape of a new local government system, ‘Sindh People’s Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO) 2012’, was result of long-hour parleys and consultation between PPP and MQM. It was also reported that ‘metropolitan corporations’ have been introduced in five districts - Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Mirpurkhas - which will be run under the elected mayors and deputy mayors.
