Newly appointed Governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa‚ Engineer Shaukat Ullah took oath of his office at Governor House Peshawar on Sunday afternoon.

Engineer Shaukatullah Khan, former Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions, has been appointed as Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by President Asif Ali Zardari on the advice of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
He belongs to Bajaur tribal region, a former stronghold of the Taliban militants. He is expected to take the oath on Sunday. He has replaced Barrister Masood Kausar, a veteran leader of Pakistan Peoples Party.
Governor serves as representative of the President and mostly deals with the affairs of the tribal regions.
Analysts believe that Khan's appointment is aimed at pushing for peace in the country's seven tribal regions, where the security forces have fought the Taliban insurgents for years.
