Kidnapped doctor recovered

QUETTA - A medical practitioner, taken captive from Lahore, was recovered from an abandoned plot in Garhang area of Qila Saifullah district in Balochistan province on Saturday.

Interacting with the media, Dr Abdul Rashid said he had been serving as a private practitioner after his retirement from King Edward Medical College. He said he did not know if ransom amount was paid. His abductors had demanded Rs200 million ransom for his release from his spouse. He said the kidnappers used to give him sleeping pills. "I was unconscious when Levies personnel shifted me to a local hospital from a deserted place,” the doctor said.
A local administration official, Darya Khan, said Dr Rashid was unconscious when recovered from Garhang area.
