Quetta blast leaves 11 dead, over 50 hurt

At least eleven people were killed and more than 50 including three FC personnel were injured in a powerful blast Bacha Khan square area of troubled city of Quetta, officials said on Thursday.

According to CCPO Quetta, Meer Zubair Mahmood, the bomb was planted in a car parked at Bacha Khan square on Iqbal-Avenue, which ripped through during busy hours in shopping area of the city.
The CCPO told the media that vehicles of law enforcement agencies were present in the area when the blast occurred, however he said the target of blast was yet unknown.
He said approximately 20 kilogram explosive material was used in the blast.
The blast was so powerful that it destroyed 15 other vehicles, nearby shops and broken window glasses in the area.
The blast created nine feet wide and deep hole on the road, police said.
Police and FC personnel rushed to the scene and cordon off the area for investigations.
Rescue teams shifted bodies and injured people including women and children to hospitals.
The emergency ward in Civil Hospital has been opened to provide treatment to those injured in this blast.
