Society dumbstruck by anarchy-like situation

MANDI BAHAUDDIN – People of the area are witnessing an era of anarchy. Lawlessness has increased. The crime graph has jumped up. It is period of strikes by government employees and lawyers. Public protest against loadshedding and inflation is causing disruption to routine life and damaging public and private property can be added to the gifts of the rulers. The police are not able to protect the life and property of the people. No one feels safe.

Even, security persons deployed on duties are being killed by terrorists like sitting ducks.
Leaders at higher level are least pushed over daily killings of innocent people in drone attacks, terrorist attacks. Corruption, looting in from of extortion, bribe and charity is going on unabated and unchecked. No department is doing its duties according to its charter. People have to pay for getting relief even if their claim is 100 per cent true.  Incidents of dacoity, robbery, murders and kidnapping have become a routine. There appears no writ of government. The government officials are busy to oblige ruling elite and their cronies. Development funds allocated are spent on recommendation of leaders of ruling parties through contractors of their choice. People have been plunged in depression. If they fight for protection of their rights they are booked by local administration.
People rightly want an end to the violence and a permanent solution to law and order problems. However the state — government after government — has been unable to deliver on this count.
People are of the opinion that all security forces including police should be disbanded since they have completely failed to ensure protection to the life and property of the citizens.
They said that they were fed up with false slogans like Tsunami, revolution, democracy is for people, Jihad and so far their exponents had served their own interests leaving public to suffer at the hands of exploiters.
As for long-term solutions, political parties must sort out their differences as per democratic norms. A political culture is needed, one that is founded on tolerance and healthy competition based on ideological solutions.
