13 squads swoop on fireworks dealers

FAISALABAD - DCO Naseem Sadiq has constituted 13 raiding teams to curb manufacturing, sale and stock of fireworks in the district.

As per orders issued, two teams each will conduct raids in four urban towns - Iqbal Town, Lyalpur Town, Jinnah Town and Madina Town, while one team each will operate in the Jaranwala, Tandilianwala, Chak Jhumra and Samundri tehsils.
The 13th team, headed by District Officer Civil Defence, will swoop on fireworks dealers anywhere in the whole district. The ACs, TMOs and TOs concerned have been nominated as head of their relevant teams. The Faisalabad City AC will monitor the performance of the urban towns’ teams and civil defence teams.
DCO Naseem Sadiq has directed the raiding squads to make the operation a success because this illegal business of fireworks has been causing fatal accidents and needs to be eliminated to save the human lives and property. Taking prompt action on the directions, District Officer Civil Defence Ch Riaz recovered huge quantity of fireworks items in two successful raids, arresting accused Muhammad Afzal while another accused Muhammad Rafique managed to flee the scene. On a tip-off, the civil defence team alongwith police force conducted raids in Chak No.3 Ramdewali and Chak No.53/JB where fireworks were being manufactured. The raiding teams ceased the different kinds of fireworks items and raw material while cases were registered with Nishatabad police station.
