LAHORE–CM Shahbaz Sharif has announced a judicial inquiry and ordered immediate rehabilitation of the affected Christian families.
The CM made SSP Operations Suhail Sukhera and SP Multan Khan OSDs and suspended DSP and SHO Badami Bagh.
Addressing a press conference, the CM announced Rs 200,000 for each victim family and vowed stern action against and immediate arrest of the culprits. Deploring the incident in strongest terms, Shahbaz appealed to the civil society and ulema to promote tolerance.
The CM asked the displaced families to return to their homes as the govt repairs houses and shops forthwith. He promised the government will provide them food and security. Shahbaz also asked police to use the footage to identify the assailants. Security across the province has been tightened.
The CM said a committee of MPs headed by Rana Sanaullah has been set up to monitor rehab work on a daily basis. Earlier, Shahbaz presided over a high-level meeting and got flared up at police and the district admin.
