UN Secretary- General Ban Ki-moon has welcomed the peace agreement to end decades of fighting between the government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on the island of Mindanao. “The United Nations stands ready to provide assistance to the parties, as needed, in implementing the Framework Peace Agreement,” the secretary-general said in a statement.
