Blast damages Akhwan Salaq shrine

PESHAWAR - The shrine of Baba Akhwan Salaq was partially damaged when an explosive device planted along its boundary wall exploded in Badhabera area on the outskirt of Peshawar on Sunday.

Police said unidentified persons had planted the device near the shrine, adding that the blast occurred in the wee hours of Sunday. They said the blast damaged the boundary wall of the shrine and slightly damaged the grave. 
The blast caused fear and panic among residents of the area that has witnessed dozens of blasts since 2007 and claimed lives of hundreds of people. A massive police party rushed and cordoned off the area, and started collecting evidence. People were stopped to go near the blast site.
Meanwhile, two people were killed in University Town area when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them, causing their instant death. The bodies were shifted to the mortuary of Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar.
According to police officials, both the victims had opened fire on each other during a clash and they both received gunshot wounds. They were identified as Ayub, a resident of Academy Town, and Wasil, a resident of Gharib Abad.
