Cop among 2 dead in Uch Gasfield attack

QUET TA - Two people, including a policeman were killed and another was abducted by unidentified people who were deployed for the security of Uch Gas Field in Naseerabad district on Friday while a driver of NATO tanker was shot dead and another wounded near Pishin. A person also injured in a landmine blast and a gas pipeline was exploded in Dera Bugti. According to sources, unidentified armed men attacked policemen with sophisticated weapons near tool Plaza area of Dera Murad Jamali in Naseerabad district who were deployed for the security of Uch Gas Field. As a result of massive firing, a police constable identified as Kareem Bakhsh and a watchman identified as Murad Ali received critical wounds and died on the spot. Attackers later abducted another watchman namely Yaseen and escaped towards undisclosed location. Soon after the incident, police and other law-enforcement agencies rushed to the site and cordoned off the area. Police sources said that a search drive had been launched in the area to trace out the kidnappers. However, no arrest had been made in this connection nor any group had claimed responsibility for the attack so far, they added. In another incident, unidentified people opened indiscriminate firing on a oil tanker carrying fuel for NATO forces deployed in Afghanistan, at Saranan area near Pishin. As a result, driver identified as Hameedullah died on the spot and his companion Saeed Gul sustained serious injuries. Official sources said that the tanker was heading towards Kandahar from Karachi. The attackers managed to flee from the scene after targeting the vehicle. Levies personnel rushed to the site after being informed and shifted deceased and injured to the nearby hospital. In Dera Bugti, a person sustained injuries in landmine blast and a gas pipeline exploded in two separate incidents. Sources said that a person identified as Ghulam Ali was on his way in Pat-Mandarani area of Dera Bugti when suddenly he stepped on a landmine which exploded. Resultantly, he received critical wounds and was taken to nearby hospital for medical aid. Separately, explosives fitted by unidentified people under a 16-inch diameter gas pipeline in Pir Koh area of Dera Bugti exploded, damaging pipeline and suspending gas supply to the purification plant. Local law-enforcement agencies rushed to the site of the blast and started investigations.
