FEROZWALA - Police constable was arrested by Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) on charge of taking bribe of Rs100,000 from a woman, to appoint her son in police on Saturday. Rifat Sultana in an application submitted to ECE assistant director Muhammad Salim in Nankana said that constable Shahbaz posted as wireless operator in DPO office had extorted rupees one lac from her to get her son appointed in police. After six months elapsed with no progress she filed charges. The accused was arrested by the ACE staff.
He said crime and criminal elements will be eliminated from the area. He was talking to local journalists after presiding over an officials meeting after taking charge as DIG. He said only honest, dutiful and well behaved police officials will remain in the force. They are appointed to solve the problems of the citizens and if they do not do their duty, they will be ‘sent home’. DPO Sheikhupura Dr. Haider Ashraf was present on this occasion.
Sugar cane growers not paid: District Kissan Board in an emergent meeting demanded the chief minister and management of Haseeb Waqas Sugar Mills, Nankana to make payment to Sugarcane growers to save them from starvation as soon as possible here on Saturday. Kissan Board Nankana president Sarwar Bhatti, while talking to media said that growers had sent huge quantity of sugarcane to the Factory. But the management had not cleared their payment so far.
