PESHAWAR - Like other parts of the country hundreds of people belonging to Christian community a staged protest demonstration and condemned the Joseph colony incident occurred in Badami Bagh area of Lahore.

Holding banners and placards the protestors were led by All Pakistan ANP minority wing leader Anjum Gul, leader of minority’s alliance Yousaf George, member of Christian society Javed Piara, Tanweer Sherazi and Morse Massih. Addressing on the occasion, the protesters said that the Punjab government failed to protect the lives and properties of the people and they were sleeping in deep slumber when the angry mob burnt their 178 houses in Badami Bagh area. They said that million of rupees loss was inflicted upon Christian community and if police had took action, this untoward incident would not happen.
He said that govt has been failed to provide protection to minority and upon the crime of a single person the entire colony was set a blaze. They added that instead taking law in their own hands, the accused person should have presented in the court of law.
They said Punjab government remained silent spectator while the extremist destroyed the houses of innocent people. He said that all religion of the world teaching peace but certain elements defaming the religion of Islam. They demanded of the government to reconstruct the damaged houses and compensate the affected people as soon as possible. They also appealed to chief justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the incident and bring the criminals to justice.
APP adds: KPK Governor, Engr. Shaukatullah has said that peace, normalcy and promotion of quality education in FATA will remain priority in his efforts for making sustained development and well being of the respective people. He added, it is also his earnest desire that the people of FATA should also join hands with him in making the educational institutions fully functional and bringing the children in system of education.
Addressing delegations of tribal elders and youth belonging to various areas of FR Peshawar, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur Agencies here at Governor’s House Sunday, the Governor further stressed the elders to take care of their areas with a focus on quality education. Responding to the tribal elders, the Governor said that he would contact the concerned authorities of TESCO to apprise him about the ground realities and assured that solid steps would be taken to address their grievances in shortest possible time.
