Addressing at a press conference, President Fata Ad hoc Teachers Association, Ihsan Dawarh said that more than 350 teachers had been appointed in different tribal agencies and Frontier Regions on adhoc basis in September last year. “FATA teachers are performing their duties in more than 32 colleges, including 10 girls institutes, had played a pivotal role in promotion of education in the tribal region, he maintained.
Flanked by male and female ad hoc teachers, he said the President Asif Ali Zadari has recently issued directives to regularize all the contract base teachers in Fata, while holding a meeting with Minister of State for Commerce, Abbas Khan Afridi a day ago.
Dawarh said that the literacy rate was adversely affected due to prolonged militancy and insurgency in Fata.
, saying that it could be a better opportunity to regularize the services of ad hoc base teachers, aimed to continuously perform their duties in efficient manner for promotion of education in tribal region. “More than 7,000 educational institutions have been functionalised in the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas, wherein around 350 ad hoc teachers were performing duties, he informed.
He welcomed that Federal government move for regularization of contract base teachers in Fata and also appreciated the efforts of Minister of State for Commerce, Abbas Khan Afridi in this regard.
He expressed hope that the government would fully materialize its decision to extend benefits to teachers serving on adhoc basis in Fata.
It was pertinent to mention here that President Asif Ali Zaradari had issued instructions for doubling of the number of quota seats for Fata students in all the engineering and medical universities and colleges, also permanent the services of teachers serving on contractual basis in Fata.
