BAHAWALPUR - Protest erupted as a child was killed and a number of other people were injured when the Tehsil Municipal Administration, the Revenue Department and the police conducted a joint operation and demolished the homes of hundreds of people in Kachi Abadi.

The child succumbed to injuries in Bahawal Victoria Hospital. The protesters blocked the Yazman Road and demanded that the Punjab chief minister should take action against the officials.
During the operation cleanup in new Islami Colony, a wall of a house fell on the one-month-old child, Zahid, whereas a number of women and children got wounded during the operation.
The affected people accused that the local administration had stopped the hospital administration from admitting any patient who got injured in the operation cleanup therefore the child was not treated. Resultantly, they added, the child died.
They were chanting slogans against the government and local administration and called for justice.  The affected people claimed that they had purchased these houses through the agents of the TMA and revenue department for Rs80,000 each but now the local administration was demolishing these houses.
