SC summons IG Motorway, FRTA secretary today

SARG ODHA - Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has summoned Inspector General of Motorway Police, the Faisalabad Regional Transport Authority (FRTA) Secretary and other relevant authorities on Monday (today) in Kallar Kahar bus tragedy hearing in which at least 40 innocent students of a private school of Faisalabad had lost their lives. This action had been taken on the petition filed by senior member of District Bas Association Attock Syed Tariq Shah Hashmi in which he requested a suo moto action of the gruesome accident occurred on September 26, 2011 when a bus boarded with students had plunged into a ravine on Motorway near Kallar Kahar. The incident claimed 40 precious lives and others sustained injuries. The petitioner held responsible the relevant authorities and declared the incident result of negligence and incompetence on the part the authorities concerned. The complainant sought a stern action against the responsible authorities and also appealed for Rs0.6 million as financial assistance to the family of each deceased student.
