Prominent lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan thinks the Supreme Court has a soft corner for PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and will not let the elections be delayed on any pretext. In a TV programme on Monday, he said since the elections were at hand and people were preparing to take part in them, the apex court would not delay the process on the question of the Election Commission’s constitution.
He said the situation was just like the one when the Supreme Court was about to restore the dismissed prime minister Muhammad Khan Junejo but had changed the mind at the eleventh hour because the people were prepared for the polls.
As for the locus standi of Dr Tahirul Qadri to move the apex court, Aitzaz said there was no bar on him to file the petition despite being a Canadian national.
