At least eight militants were killed and several others injured in clashes between armed men of two defunct organizations here on Tuesday.

According to local sources, militants belonging to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Ansarul Islam (AI) clashed in Drey Stani area of Tirah valley, Khyber Agency, during which eight persons from both sides were reported killed, whereas scores of others were wounded.
Sources said that the death toll was expected to increase as many among the injured were reported to be in serious condition.
However, political administration officials did not confirm any details of the incident.
Sources said that AI militants had taken important strategic heights and were again in control of the key Maidan area which was taken over by the TTP militants last month.
The clashes between the two banned militant groups, which started last month, have claimed almost a 100 lives from both sides whereas both organisations have claimed gains against each other.
Media persons, having been barred, have no access to the area and the death toll could not be independently verified.
