LAHORE - President Asif Ali Zardari has said the interim government will have non-controversial people so no one can question its sincerity and hoped that the upcoming polls in the country will be held on time, BBC reported on Monday.
Speaking in an interview with BBC during his recent Britain trip, he expressed the belief that consensus will be evolved on the poll date and the caretaker government. The president said the interim government will have an absolute authority for holding fair elections in the country. “Same authority which has been interpreted in the constitution….so the polls are free…..and a new history is made,” he added.
Commenting on his son’s political career, President Zardari said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was still young and it will take some time before he assumes all the responsibilities of running the party. Bilawal is the chairman of PPP, of which his father is the co-chairman.
Zardari said that Pakistan still has weaknesses for playing the role of a frontline state for last forty years. He said it has financial implications as well.
The president also appreciated media’s role for making these weaknesses public so the rulers can work around to resolve these issues.
