Addressing a news conference, Larkana SSP Javaid Jiskani said that a police team cordoned off the main hideout of the dacoits in KT Mumtaz area. The dacoits were asked to surrender but they opened fire on the police team. In retaliation, dacoits Iqbal Narejo, Mehboob Narejo, Ameero Narejo and an unidentified accomplice were gunned down.
The police also recovered heavy weapons from them. The SSP further said that all the dacoits were carrying heavy head-money and wanted in various criminal cases.
However, there are rumours that the criminals were killed in a clash between two groups of Narejo community, and the police are showing fake encounters for getting rewards. However Larkana police took away the bodies. The Sindh government had placed Rs1 million as head money on Iqbal Nareejo. The dacoits were wanted by police stations of different districts of Sindh in various heinous crimes including murder, robberies, kidnapping for ransom and looting vehicles at National Highway.
