MULTAN - PML-N Vice President Tehmina Daultana on Tuesday accused the PPP of using new provinces issue as an elections stunt, saying Mian Nawaz Sharif was not opposed to South Punjab province but he demanded a permanent national commission with representation from all stakeholders.Talking to the journalists here at Multan Airport, she added that a committee should have been formed on pattern of the one set up for the restoration of judiciary before making the commission. “This committee should have equal representation from the treasury and opposition. And then a commission should be formed in the second phase to give recommendations for the economic and geographical limits of new provinces,” she added. She said that the commission should also ponder over the point that whether or not creation of a new province was possible. She said that the PML-N wanted to fulfil all legal requirements for the new province instead of mere point scoring. She declared that the statements regarding holding local government polls before general elections were a tactic to create hurdles in way of general elections. Referring to a new local government ordinance introduced by the Sindh government, she said that the PPP started a new drama by bringing this ordinance in the darkness of night. She added that all sensitive issues must be discussed in the parliament instead of promulgating ordinances.Replying to a question, she said that the arrival of UN’s fact finding mission on missing persons in Balochistan was a conspiracy against Pakistan and clear intervention in our internal affairs. To another query on a statement of former prime minister Gilani, she said that those talking of Jungle law in Punjab could not see target killings in Karachi and Balochistan as well as drone attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Those giving such statements should see with open eyes that Punjab is a model province as regards with the law and order,” she added. She was of the opinion that there was no justification in taking the corruption cases of three former generals to army courts who were summoned by the NAB. She added that all were equal in the eyes of law. “If the citizens and politicians of this country can go to jail, the general should also be held accountable for their crimes. She claimed that Mian Shahbaz Sharif gave special attention to South Punjab as he increased Vehari District’s budget to Rs80 billion from 22 billion.
