ICT takes security arrangements for worship places

ISLAMABAD – The ICT Administration here on Thursday finalized security arrangements for the worship places in the capital during the upcoming month of Ramazan after a special meeting with the religious leaders.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Farasat Ali Khan, presided over the meeting that was also attended by the SSP Islamabad, Muhammad Yousaf Malik.
According to the code of conduct, it was decided that only one gate of mosques would be kept opened and mosque committees would deploy at least one or two volunteers at the gate to keep a watch and checking through metal detectors. The committees would also inform the police and administration prior to holding of any religious gathering for security. Volume of loudspeakers would be kept at minimum low level.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has said that the concerned officials of CDA had been asked for pruning of the shrubs and bushes and make proper lighting arrangements outside the worship places prior to advent of Ramadan.
The meeting was informed that police and administration had also started meetings with the mosque committees at the police station level. SSP Islamabad, Muhammad Yousaf said that the police and administration would issue foolproof security plan for Ramadan shortly and joint patrolling of police and administration would be carried out at the worship places to review the security arrangements in place on the spot. Special patrolling with eagle squad would also be conducted at prayers timings especially Taraveeh prayers.
He said that anti- beggary squad of police had also been activated to check the presence of professional beggars in markets, sectors and traffic signals. He also suggested that the mosque committees should also hire the services of private security guards subject to prior police verification of guards by the police.
The religious leaders assured the administration and police that they would maintain religious harmony during Ramadan and would implement the code of conduct issued by the Islamabad Administration during the month of Ramadan.
