DIR - As a result of successful talks between a grand jirga of Sunai Darra and militants in Kunar, the latter agreed to hand over bodies of 17 security forces men alongwith a body of local of sunai darra who were killed in a cross border attack some 19 days ago.

The jirga included elders from Sunai Darra,Sabir Kalay, Maskeni, and other border villages of Upper Dir held around 10 rounds of talks with the militants in Kunar province.
The militants who are operating under the fugitive Maulana Fazlullah had killed the soldiers in an attack they had carried out on June 24th in Sunai Darra border area.
The attack had created tension on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Upper Dir. The border areas of Upper Dir are, however, still in danger of attack from the militants hiding across the border.
Earlier, the militants had demanded release of their 20 comrades imprisoned in different jails in Khyber Pakhutnkhwa but it could not be ascertained as to whether the government made any concessions or not.
Also, it was unclear whether militants handed over the bodies unconditionally. The bodies were shifted through Shahi Pass to CMH and DHQ Timergra after handing them over to security forces, sources said.
