Thal BHUs lack medical facilities

NOORPUR THAL - Majority of Basic Health Units (BHUs) in Tehsil Thal lacked medical equipment and other facilities including stretchers, wheelchairs, sterilizers, oxygen tents, labour rooms and mini laboratories.

This was stated by Thal Development Forum (TDF) Chairman Malik Gul Asghar Khan while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.
He said due to lack of basic facilities the inhabitants of the area were faced with a lot of problems.
He said that 83 per cent BHUs did not have syringe cutters. Another 76 per cent lacked mini laboratories, 55 per cent had no wheelchairs and 39 per cent were without stretchers. Similarly, there were no oxygen tents at 32 per cent of the health units while 21 per cent have no sterilizers, he added. 49 per cent BHUs did not have trained staff to treat TB patients.
Moreover, 90 per cent BHUs did not have generators for power back-up, he further said. He demanded the government that immediate measures must be taken to provide proper health facilities in Thal.
