No talks with govt on nomination papers: ECP

Election Commission of Pakistan has refused to have talks with the government on nomination papers, such that around 100,000 new nomination papers have already been printed.

In an informal media conversation here in Islamabad on Wednesday, Election Commissioner Punjab Riaz Kiani said that talks on nomination papers couldn’t be held in future. He added that the Election Commission would only accept the ruling of the Supreme Court with regard to the nomination papers.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has written a letter to the Interior Ministry to ensure foolproof security of the members of the Commission and its officials. The letter has been written after the murder of a District Election Commissioner in Balochistan.
Member of the Election Commission, Balochistan, Fazal-ur-Rehman noted that the list of sensitive polling stations have already been prepared. The security of these polling stations will be ensured during the next general elections, he maintained.
