MATLI - The local social and political circles are currently discussing two important expected developments of administrative and political nature including carving out a new district out of existing lower Sindh district Badin and re-joining of the PPP after a long time by an influential landlord and political personality Bashir Halepoto.

According to reports circulating in social and political circles, an important leader of ruling the PPP, who has agricultural lands and a sugar mill in Sanjar Chang area, is eager to see Matli, a Tehsil of district Badin, as new district with Matli, Talhar and Tando Ghulam Haider, existing tehsils, and Tando Ghulam Ali as its new tehsil.
The PPP leader plans to get Sanjar Chang area detached from Chambar tehsil and making it part of new district that would be declared tax-free Industrial Zone. The Matli area is gaining importance as a power plant is under construction with foreign investment. Some foreign dignitaries had also visited the area recently. The other reports suggested that an emissary of President Zardari held talks with Bashir Halepoto  and invited him to join the PPP again.
MNA Faryal Talpur and two federal ministers as well as party’s provincial leadership had also met Halepoto to convince him for rejoining the PPP.
The sources close to Bashir Halepoto told that he has desired the PPP ticket for provincial assembly seat but the party has offered national assembly seat. It is expected that Bashir Halepoto will announce rejoining the PPP on the occasion of visit of an important personality to the area some time from October 15 to 20.
