HYDERABAD (HAFEEZ SHAIKH) - The people from different segments of life including representatives of civil society, political and religious parties strongly condemned the cowardly attack on Malala Yousafzai and prayed for her early recovery.

They also appreciated the urgency and attention Malala received from the government and the medical team treating her. They also paid glowing tribute to the services of Malala Yousafzai for the promotion of peace and education in Swat.
Meanwhile, the Director Institute of Commerce University of Sindh informed to all registered scholars of MPhil Programme in commerce of academic year 2012 that their first semester examinations will be held from October 18 at the Institute of Commerce.
He informed that examination schedule has been displayed at the notice board of the institute. Meanwhile, the Controller of Examinations University of Sindh has also issued the schedule of the annual examinations 2012 of BA, BSc, BCom and BSc Home Economics Part-II which will be conducted from November 6.
Meanwhile, Sindh University Registrar Muhammad Nawaz Narejo strongly rejected the allegations levelled against university management by former office-bearers of Sindh University Teachers Association (SUTA) in connection with the attack at the boys hostel by a group of university students.
In a statement issued here, the Registrar clarified that police raided the hostel without informing the university management for which strong protest was recorded in front of police officials and letters were also sent to the higher authorities for investigating the matter as the police raid was impropriate.
Countering the allegation of ex office bearers of SUTA Azhar Shah and Arfana Mallah, the Registrar said raising finger upon the Vice Chancellor into the matter is quite wrong as he was on leave at the time the raid took place.
Meanwhile, the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences management took serious notice over the conduct of four office-bearers of Liaquat University Staff Welfare Association (LUSWA) and issued shows cause notice to them for their unlawful and unhealthy activities. The LUSWA has been established with the objective to provide social services to the staff of the university but contrary to that the present office-bearers have started blackmailing the management to achieve their illegal personal goals, the spokesman informed and added that the university management had held a meeting with the office-bearers on August 30, 2012 and assured to fulfil the legal demands for the general benefit of the staff, matter of leave encashment, regularisation of contractual employees and promotions are under active consideration and would be done after fulfilling all the legal formalities.
In response to the assurance given by the university management and efforts initiated to solve the genuine problems, the LUSWA office-bearers are trying to threaten the management to, creating law and order situation at the university, the spokesman said adding that university staff is being harassed to get support to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the campus.
Meanwhile, University of Sindh decided to pay a full basic salary to all Muslim regular and contractual employees of BPS-2 to BPS-16 as an advance on account of Eidul Azha.
According to the announcement, the university management will pay full basic pay to all Muslim regular and contractual employees of Grade 2 to 16 on October 19, which will later be adjusted in three equal instalments from the salaries for the months of January, February and March 2013 respectively. The office bearers of Sindh University Employees Welfare Association have expressed their gratitude over the announcement made by the university management.
