LAHORE – Mir Mukarram Zehri, President PML-Likeminded Balochistan, has taken serious exception to the purchase of aircraft worth Rs 1.7 billion for Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani, ignoring miseries and agony of the people of the Balochistan.
While talking to TheNation on Friday, he said that people of Balochistan are living in abject poverty, and the whole province is in the grip of turmoil.
He said lakhs are still marooned due to last month’s floods,and referred to the official reports which revealed that the floods have caused loss of property to the tune of Rs 53 billion and around Rs 20 billion are needed for rehabilitation and reconstruction.
According to the latest figures issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) which has mentioned Barkhan, Harnai, Jhal Magsi, Kachi, Qilla Saifullah, Kohlu, Loralai, Musakhel, Sherani, Sibi, Jaffarabad and Naseerabad as among the worst hit districts, he added.
Zehri cited a number of complaints against the unfair and unjust distribution of the relief goods to the flood affectees and among them a huge number has so far received nothing.
Zehri personally appealed to national and international donors to come forward to help Baloch people.
