Nawaz for boosting  Pak-Iran ties

LAHORE – PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has emphasised the importance of strengthening relations between Iran and Pakistan, especially in the economic and energy sectors.

Nawaz made these remarks during the courtesy call paid to him by Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Reza Haghighian in Islamabad, on Wednesday.
During the course of their warm and cordial exchanges, Nawaz Sharif spoke of his visits to Tehran and his deep abiding friendship with the Iranian leaders.
He said he viewed Iran as an important neighbour of Pakistan which shared with Tehran many historic linkages.
In this context, he also lauded the successful holding of Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran last month, which, added, to the influence and credibility of the Movement.
The Iranian Ambassador thanked Nawaz Sharif for his expression of support for strengthening relations between the two countries and recalled the initiatives taken by Nawaz Sharif to achieve these objectives.
He also pointed out that the Iranian province of Khurramshehar and Punjab enjoyed “sister city” relationship and focused their efforts on strengthening economic and commercial ties.
