PM convenes DCC meeting to review security

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has called a meeting of the Defence Committee of the Cabinet on February 19 to discuss the security situation in the country.
The meeting will also discuss Pakistan's role in the withdrawal of Nato forces from Afghanistan as these troops are using Pakistani routes for transporting men and weaponry deployed in Afghanistan.
Sources in the Prime Minister's Secretariat informed TheNation that the meeting would also discuss the peace initiative of Awami National Party with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan for establishing peace in tribal areas and other parts of the country. The matter of troops deployment during the upcoming general elections is also on the agenda of the meeting while political leadership would be briefed about the ongoing operation against militants in tribal areas.
