ISLAMABAD  - President Asif Ali Zardari has taken notice of media reports about the plight of nearly 700 Pakistani workers stranded in Saudi Arabia allegedly because of invalid visas.
A Turkish company, MAAPA Construction and Trade, had hired these Pakistani workers through different travel and recruiting agencies during 2011 after payment of a hefty sum against visa issuance.
The visas issued were in fact illegal.
Presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said the president has directed the concerned officials to investigate the matter and take appropriate measures immediately for resolving the issue and rescue the stranded workers. The President has called report within three days.
