Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar arrived in New York Sunday afternoon for a brief visit during which she will preside over a ministerial-level debate in the Security Council on comprehensive approach to counter-terrorism on January 15.

The Security Council is the United Nations' most powerful body, which deals issues of international peace and security.
Apart from presiding over the debate, the Foreign Minister has a busy schedule during her stay in New York. Ms. Khar will confer with the U.N. chief and hold bilateral meetings with the high-level delegates participating in the debate.
Apart from a number of media engagements, the foreign minister will also address and exchange views with members of the two prestigious thinktanks-- The Asia Society on January 15 and Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) the following day.
