HYDERABAD As many as 1,359 graduates of health sciences from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, were conferred academic degrees and diplomas at the 11th Convocation.
Among the top position holders, Anam Pario Khan, Sana Arif and Faiza Muhammad Memon were ranked first, second and third, respectively, in the 2011 batch while Faiza Fatima Memon, Emaan Fatima and Saba Ashraf secured the top three positions in the 2012 batch.
Seven doctors of philosophy degrees were also conferred on the occasion. The PhDs included Dr Aneela Attaur Rehman in Gene and Environmental Internaction in cancer, Dr Kanwal Zafar in Development Targeted Drug Delivery System for Treatment of Hepatitis C, Dr Ameer Afzal Memon in Helicobacter Pylori Virulence Tests, Clinical Significance and Interpretation, Dr Muhammad Qasim Memon in Biomedical Sciences, and Dr Naresh Kumar in Dental Materials.

Khuhro congratulated all the graduates as well as the university.
Speaking earlier, LUMHS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mashhoor Alam recalled that the university was one of the oldest institute of medical learning which was founded in 1850.
Dr Alam informed that the LUMHS had obtained ISO 9001 certification last year. He added that the university was opening a campus in Khairpur district and also a distant learning program in near future.
