MULTAN - The clerks went unruly when police tried to prevent them from going to Prime Minister House during a protest against non-acceptance of their demands here on Wednesday. The demo was organised by All-Pakistan Clerks Association (Apca) and a large number of clerks participated in it. The protesters scuffled with cops, smashed and removed barricades from the road and continued their march towards Prime Minister House where they staged a sit-in. Holding placards and banners inscribed with anti-government slogans and their demands, they carried out non-stop sloganeering against the government during the demo. They lamented that the price hike registered 400 per cent increase during last few years while the raise offered by the government in the budget was merely 20 per cent. “It’s nothing. We reject it.

We demand at least 35 per cent raise,” they demanded. They warned that the clerks would lock up all state offices and go for a pen-drop strike if their demand was not accepted forthwith.
