LAHORE - The eldest son of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and member Punjab Assembly, Abdul Qadir Gilani, on Wednesday took jibes at Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Ch regarding the corruption allegations against his son.
“When allegations were levelled against us, it was said that the prime minister should resign to ensure fair and transparent investigation. We don’t say that the chief justice should resign, but we do want transparent investigation of Arsalan’s case,” he said while talking to reporters outside Punjab Assembly along with PPP Deputy Parliamentary Leader Shaukat Mehmood Basra.
Qadir also demanded constitution of a larger bench or a commission to probe the matter in order to meet the demands of justice. The PPP leader said former federal minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi was forced to step down, when allegations were levelled against him, on the plea that he could influence the process of investigation.
“The investigation regarding my case was entrusted to the FIA and I have been appearing before the agency,” he said, adding that his case was under trail before the court and the honourable judges should decide the case on merit.
“When we faced the allegations and we called it a conspiracy, then people criticised us. Now, as Arsalan Iftikhar is facing the allegations, they are also calling it a conspiracy,” he observed.
