LAHORE – PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will meet PML-F chief Pir Sahib Pagara at Kingri House in Karachi today.
The meeting is also important because both sides are expected to discuss the matter of the care taker chief minister’s appointment in Sindh.
The CM will be nominated after due consultation with opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, who is belong to the PML-F. Sharifs and Pir Pagara will talk about the neutral interim setup in the province and try to form consensus on the name of the care taker CM.
Sources say that the opposition alliance is aware of the political development in Sindh after the MQM, a collation partner the PPP, has announced to contest the elections independently.
There is a probability that the MQM will walk out of the coalition and sits on opposition benches in the Sindh Assembly where it can be the biggest opposition party that will have the key to appointing the interim set up. Fielding joint candidates in Sindh and seat adjustment for coming elections are also on the agenda of the meeting between the two factions of the Muslim league.
Nawaz Sharif is a staunch supporter of the stance taken by the PML-F and other nationalist parties of Sindh on the newly adopted Sindh People’s Local Government Act, delimitation of constituencies in Karachi and verification and survey of voters lists in Karachi with the assistance of the Army. Pir Pagara has been a strong advocate for the unification of Muslim league factions and this matter will also come under discussion during the meeting.
During his visit to Karachi, Nawaz Sharif will also meet the family of late JI secretary general Professor Ghafoor Ahmad to condole over his death.
On his arrival, Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif will be received by PML-N Sindh President Syed Ghous Ali Shah, senior leader Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, Saleem Zia, Syed Mamoon Hussain, Ali Akbar Gujjar and party workers.
