Suicide blast near convoy of CM KPK, Hoti remains safe

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti remained unhurt in a suicide attack that targeted his convoy in Mardan on Friday.

Commissioner Mardan claimed that it was a suicide blast which caused no causalities.
The convoy was targeted near Piranshah area in the KPK province as the CM was traveling to Mardan, his native town, to attend a rally of his party – Awami National Party (ANP).
All other members of the chief minister’s convoy also remained unhurt in the blast that took place outside the Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan.
The attack occurred when the provincial chief minister was on its way to attend a meeting.
The attack on the senior Awami National Party (ANP) leader comes nearly two months after the killing of Bashir Ahmed Bilour in a suicide bomb explosion in Peshawar.
The attack that killed Bilour was claimed by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Police and security forces arrived at the blast site to investigate the blast which occurred day after the ANP-hosted All Parties Conference emphasized upon the need of negotiations with Taliban and other insurgent groups battling Pakistan army and ally forces in Afghanistan.
