Eight hurt in Karachi blast

KARACHI – Eight people were wounded in a low intensity blast at a petrol pump in Defence area within the remits of Gizri police station. According to details, a blast occurred outside a petrol pump situated at Khayaban-e-Ittehat, Defence in which eight people were injured, including Hashmatullah, Asif, Zubair, Zahir, Kamran, Abid, Abdullah and Waseem.
Police shifted them to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Police officials said after the blast, fire erupted in the mart which gutted it completely. The bomb disposal squad officials said that they did not find any ball bearing, nut bolts and other explosive materials from the spot because all evidence was washed away during the fire brigade operation. They said that the bomb was blasted through Improvised Explosive Device.
