Police arrest 2 POs among 47 in crackdown

LAKKI MARWAT – Police cracked down on criminals and arrested 42 people including two hardened proclaimed offenders and five gamblers on Saturday.
“A police party led by DPO Umar Riaz combed several parts of the district especially the areas bordering the frontier tribal region in search of militants and outlaws”, said an official. He said that personnel of anti terror squad and elite force along with armoured personnel carrier vehicles also took part in the combing operation.
He said that two dreaded outlaws identified as Ali Jan and Rafiullah were arrested in Tap Takhtikhel and Naserkhel localities. “They were wanted by police in murder and kidnapping cases”, he maintained.
He told that the law enforcers also captured five gamblers along with bet money of Rs 1470 and 35 suspects during the daylong operation. Besides, nine shotguns, two repeater guns, two pistols, 270 bullets and two suspected motorbikes were seized from anti social elements”, he added.
Meanwhile, a man was shot and injured over a dispute on fetching water from a tube well in Wanda Seemo village on Saturday.
A police official said that the firing incident took place in the limits of Lakki Marwat Police Station. “The accused persons opened fire on one Qader Khan inflicting upon him serious bullet wounds, when he (the injured) tried to carry water from the village’s tube well,” he said.
He said the relatives and villagers shifted the injured to city hospital wherefrom he was referred to Peshawar in critical condition. He added that police registered a case against Ahmad Ali, Eid Muhammad, Javed, Nasrullah and Inayatullah on the complaint of injured Qader Khan and started investigation.
