MULTAN - Senior PML-N leader and Senator Malik Rafiq Rajwana has said that some unseen powers used their agent to attack independence of judiciary, hurling a warning that this attempt could produce serious consequences.

Talking to The Nation on phone on Thursday, he added that his party would not hesitate to take even extreme step to protect the independence of judiciary and protection of constitution. He claimed that the corrupt elements first tried to bring judiciary under their influence and when they failed to achieve their vested goals, they flashed the issue of Arsalan Iftikhar. “If these elements are allowed to continue to hatch conspiracies, it shall badly harm national institutions,” he warned. He was of the opinion that the evidences of current conspiracy against Supreme Court would be found in presidency if investigated. “Malik Riaz is not central character of this conspiracy. The main character is sitting in Islamabad,” he added. He claimed that the preparation for this conspiracy was underway for last two or three years. “That’s why Malik Riaz kept the record of each and every thing since the day first. Why on earth he saved the receipt of all payments from beginning?” he posed a question. He said that the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took a laudable step by taking suo moto notice of this issue and it ensured supremacy of law.
To a query, he said that PML-N quit government on the issue of restoration of judges and then got them restored through long march. He added that his party stood firm on its principle stand and it would not hesitate from offering any sacrifice for the protection of judiciary.
