In Larkana, various police teams raided the houses of leaders and activists of the JSQM, STPP, SUP, SNP and others for holding anti-SPLGA protests and rallies. At least ten JSQM activists including Momin Odho, Yakoob Arbani, Zafar Langah and others were booked in various cases in Larkana district. Various rallies were taken out to lodge protest against the use of government machinery by the Pakistan People’s Party to curb the basic democratic right of the people.
A large number of people staged demonstration and marched from Badah to Dokri and blocked the main highway for several hours, protesting against the dual system in Sindh. They said the rulers have succumbed to the MQM pressure and lust of power. They vowed no to accept the dual system of local government in the province.
In Tando Adam, the raids were conducted at house of Mujahid Thaheem of Sindh United Party located at Berani Road, Ashraf Mirani, Sarwar Buriro of Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party and other leaders. The nationalist leaders condemning the raids said the PPP government was baffled on rage of Sindhi nation and has resorted to victimisation.
In Mirpurkhas, at least seven activists of different nationalist parties were rounded up in various raids by police. Heavy contingents of police carried out raids at different places and arrested Manzoor Memon, Mustafa Koori and Shahid Kalhoro of the JSQM, Budho Keerio and Meehar Bunglani of STPP and Kirar Labari and Kirshan Kolhi of Awami Tehreek.
JSQM district president Yousuf Mangrio strongly condemned the PPP government’s tactics to press the public voice.
In Sanghar, members of the Save Sindh Committee staged a protest against the new LG system. Police arrested five activists after a clash was also occurred between the protesters and police during the protest.
A large number of the people gathered here and chanted slogans against the ordinance, rejecting the dual system in one province. They said that the system was illegal and exposed the PPP of betraying Sindh and its people. The participants said that the act was aimed to create a state within state in the province.
