LAHORE–The Lahore High Court on Tuesday disqualified Pakistan People’s Party MNA Malik Nawab Sher Waseer for amassing assets beyond his declared source of income and concealing the facts from court about his dismissal as the government employee.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan and Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti gave the verdict on the petition of Munir Ahmad, a resident of Jaranwala.
The petitioner said that Waseerhad accumulated illegal assets and not declared them while submitting his nomination papers for contesting general elections held in 2008. He told the court that the MNA was also dismissed from government services on the charges of misconduct and corruption.
He maintained that Waseer did not fulfil the requirements of Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution and requested the court to disqualify him. The court cancelled the National Assembly membership of Nawab Sher Waseer.
