Speedy justice mantra reuttered

July 16, 2012

MANDI BAHAUDDIN - Newly posted District and Sessions Judge Khalid Shabbir said that in Muslim society mosque, judiciary and madrassa (seminaries) were held in great respect.

He said that judges and lawyers were jointly responsible for protecting respect of judiciary and stressed joint efforts to come up to the public expectations. He was addressing a ceremony held in his honour here the other day.
He pledged to ensure dispensation of speedy and transparent justice to the public. He also reaffirmed the pledge for endeavour to create conducive atmosphere with the cooperation of lawyers for speedy and transparent justice. Earlier, DBA President Matiur Rehman welcomed the newly-posted and assured him full cooperation on behalf of the bar association for the commitment towards justice dispensation.
Meanwhile, it is to be noted that there is a common an impression among the public that the judges afraid of the lawyers’ leaders. This impression is strengthened by the fact that during over one year, five district and sessions judges including a civil judge were transferred and posted under the pressure of lawyers and the newly-posted District and Sessions judge is also the replacement of a judge who was recently transferred on demand of lawyers’ leaders.
Moreover, the prolonged delays in disposal of cases due to frequent strikes and non appearance of lawyers in the courts have shaken the faith of litigants in the judiciary.
There is a need for strenuous efforts to ensure protection of courts/judges to restore the public faith in the administration of justice.
