Three killed in Multan shootout

MULTAN – Three ‘dacoits’ were killed in a shootout with police in Qasim Bela area here in the wee hours of Friday, police claimed.
The police also claimed that the killed dacoits were proclaimed offenders. They were identified as Iqbal, Ilyas and Arif. Cops from Cantonment police station established a picket in Qasim Bela area and stopped three suspicious motorcyclists. However, the bike riders opened fire on the cops and tried to flee from the spot.
Meanwhile, police sources said, the motorbike of the accused fell into a ditch on which they took refuge in a mango orchard. “They exchanged fire with police party that continued for at least thirty minutes,” the sources added. A heavy police contingent surrounded the orchard under the command of SP Cantt. Mansoor Rana. When police party entered the orchard, they found the dacoits dead. Police claimed that two accomplices of Iqbal namely Adnan and Malik Sajid were killed in another encounter in Chinniot recently.
Talking to the journalists, Mansoor Rana said that all the three accused were involved in heinous crimes.
