Rain, snow bring GB to a shuddering halt

ISLA MABAD (INP) - Recent rain and snowfall in various districts of Gilgit-Baltistan have brought the life to a halt. Increasing the intensity of cold, the recent rains and snowfall have disrupted communication links and triggered a shortage of foodstuffs in various parts of the province. The snowfall continued in different areas of Ghizer, Astore and Skardu while different areas received scattered rains, triggering landslides and avalanches. The routine life has been paralysed by closure of road links while acute shortage of foodstuff has been adding to public woes in the areas. On the other hand, hoarders have been fleecing the people as they hiked the prices of utility items from 10 per cent to 100 per cent. The residents called upon the authorities concerned to immediately launch relief activities and action against profiteering.
