A remote-controlled bomb targeting a passenger van killed at least 14 people and wounded 10 others in Lower Dir on Sunday, police said.
"It was a remote-controlled bomb blast which killed 14 people including three women and wounded 10 others," local police official Farman Khan told AFP.
Khan, who was supervising the aftermath at the site, said the vehicle was targeted because it was carrying people known to be pro-government. Another local police official, Javaid Khan, confirmed the incident and casualties.
Dilawar Khan, a survivor, said he heard a huge blast, and the passengers suddenly dived to the ground.
”There was a big bang and we all were lying here and there … I was listening to people’s cries but unable to see anything as dust and smoke engulfed the air … Then I found myself in the hospital with my leg and hand bandaged,” said Khan. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
