Counsel for Ali Musa Gilani, Advocate Faisal Chaudhry, in the bail matter in ephedrine case, urged the Supreme Court to take action against ANF officials for allegedly harassing, manhandling and grossly insulting the lawmaker.
He contended that on September 14, Musa was on his way to the Supreme Court to surrender himself before the bench, hearing pre-arrest bail, but about two dozen uniformed and plane-clothed officials of ANF forcefully stopped him at the main entry point of the august court and did not let them enter the Supreme Court.
He further stated that when his client said they were there to surrender before the court as their case had been fixed and that they should wait the court directions and act accordingly, the ANF officials ruthlessly disregarded the applicant, manhandled him and insulted him harshly, he stated.
He said the officials, later, arrested his client by dragging him out of his vehicle and virtually throwing him in their official vehicle took him away.
The Supreme Court, the other day, granted bail to Musa, in infamous ephedrine quota allotment case after deposition of two surety bounds of Rs 0.5 million each and adjourned the hearing till September 25.
Musa is accused of pressuring officials of the health ministry in 2010 to allocate a quota of controlled chemical ephedrine to two different pharmaceutical companies.
