ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that Pakistan Peoples Party’s leadership has always accorded primacy to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in its policies and programmes.
The extension of Political Parties Act to FATA is a practical manifestation of PPP leadership’s resolve to help it become the part of national mainstream, he added.
The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to Dr. Arbab Aalimgir, Minister for Communication and Abbas Khan Afridi, Minister for SAFRON, who together called on him at the Prime Minister’s House on Saturday.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister applauded the sacrifices, courage and patriotism of the people of tribal areas in difficult times.
The Prime Minister directed the Minister Communication to initiate projects of infrastructure development for the economic uplift of FATA and also ensure the timely completion of those which are already in the pipeline. Dr. Arbab apprised the Prime Minister about implementation status of the on-going projects undertaken by National Highway Authority (NHA) in FATA.
Raja Pervez Ashraf directed both the Federal Ministers to sensitize the public with the achievements of the democratic government and motivate the party workers as the general elections are on the horizon.
He also reiterated the resolve of his government that the elections will be held on time in a fair, free and transparent manner.
