Democracy faces a threat, says Nisar

LAHORE - Leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan says the political system faced serious threats and it was for this reason that a number of political parties held a meeting at Raiwind farmhouse of Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday. “In case of an attack on the democratic system, political parties would offer the strongest resistance,” he said in a TV programme.

Asked if there was any sign of a conspiracy against the democratic system, the senior PML-N leader said the ‘drama’ staged by Dr Tahirul Qadri in Islamabad was one of the indicators. He said before that no other party had been facilitated the way he was.
